Stifel and Sons company in the early 20th century, are workwear stalwarts despite only about 30 years of total production. The design is produced through a form of discharge-printing, where dye is removed from specific areas to produce a desired pattern — in the case of colloquial \"wabash,\" that specific pattern is vertical pinstripes made up of closely-set dots.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe vast majority of wabash fabrics produced used an indigo base, but examples of black wabash did exist. Achieving the color through a sulfur-based dye rather than the classic indigo, these black wabash fabrics appeared some time around the 1930s when demand for indigo workwear textiles was declining. This specific custom black wabash is woven from 100% cotton yarns, and has been painstakingly reproduced based on small original samples McCoy's have in their archives. These original samples are extremely rare, and their history is incomplete and somewhat unknown, making for a highly unique but still historically-faithful new wabash fabric.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThey have a few other details worth mentioning: a two prong buckle that holds the rear buckle together, a 4-button fly, and metal suspender buttons around the outside of the waistband, giving you yet a third way to hold these pants up.
